LSG Sky Chefs wins Gold Mercury Award
NEU-ISENBURG – LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s leading provider of quality in-flight catering solutions, has been awarded the Gold Mercury Award in category 3 – “Equipment” – at the IFCA tradeshow in Copenhagen. The Award has been granted for the polypropylene glass rack developed by LSG Sky Chefs Catering Logistics, a 100 % subsidiary of LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG. This innovative product, offers not only economical benefits but also excellent handling in operations across the whole in-flight service supply chain. LSG Sky Chefs’ unique design of the glass rack resulted in serviceable and cleaner glasses and avoidance of misloadings, whereas the significant decrease in the chipping-rate of the glassware stands for a quick pay-back time. The patented lightweight construction allows adding a third layer to accommodate taller glasses and makes it more comfortable and safer for flight attendants to handle. Due to the wear-resistant design, airlines will not only save on recurring replacement costs, in some cases up to 50 %, but will also improve quality in application.
The design life of the product has been extended to several years due to the use of PP, which offers increased flexibility, lighter weight and much needed strength to withstand all catering operations. The glass rack is available in both ATLAS and KSSU versions, with full color and logo possibilities.
