SPIRIANT Celebrates First Anniversary

Neu-Isenburg, Germany – SPIRIANT, LSG Sky Chefs’ in-flight equipment subsidiary, today celebrated the first anniversary of its brand name, which was launched at last year’s World Travel Catering Expo (WTCE) in Hamburg.

The decision to create SPIRIANT as a new dedicated and independent brand was made after considering market research findings, as well as the size and potential of this business segment. The company’s equipment activities, namely the design, development and sourcing of in-flight equipment, such as meal service and comfort items, galley equipment and commodities, had been previously marketed under the LSG Sky Chefs brand.

The name SPIRIANT, alongside the tagline “where inspiration meets performance,” represents the company’s can-do attitude and evokes associations with innovation, inspiration and confidence. Ever since its launch, those brand attributes have been reasserted by a number of new business wins, which include tableware items for Helvetic Airways, EVA Air and Lufthansa; chinaware for CSA Czech Airlines and Japan Airlines; customized amenity kits for Edelweiss Airways, Thai Airways and Qatar; as well as glass racks and drawers for a number of European, Asian and North American carriers. SPIRIANT has also developed a full range of inflight equipment (tableware, linen and disposables) for Finnair, in cooperation with the Finnish Marimekko design house.

Over the past six months, SPIRIANT’s innovative strength has also been recognized by respected international design competitions: In 2013, the SPIRIANT design team was awarded first place in the Fresh Food category for their “Metropolitan Box” design for Lufthansa in the 2013 Dieline Package Design Awards. Earlier this year, SPIRIANT was also honored with the prestigious Good Design Awards for four different products at the 2013 competition in Chicago. Just recently, the company was included in the German Design Council’s 60th anniversary book “The Major German Brands,” cataloguing the top 100 German design brands.

In the coming months, SPIRIANT will take an important step forward in its “going global” strategy by opening a new office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in order to be closer to the customers there and explore further opportunities in the region.
